Poker is a game that requires both luck and skill. It is a card game where players place bets against each other, with the winning player declared by the highest ranked hand at the end of the betting round. Chips (representing money) may be used to place bets in the game, but it is generally preferred to use real cash. Players must act in turn, unless they choose to fold.<\/p>\n
Before the cards are dealt one or more players must place forced bets, either an ante or blind bet. The dealer then shuffles the cards and deals them to each player, starting with the player to their right. Then the first of many betting rounds begins.<\/p>\n
Each player then has the option to check, raise, or call each other’s bets. When a player decides to raise their own bet they must place chips in the pot equal to that of the player before them. If they wish to fold, they must do so before the dealer shows their cards at the end of the betting round.<\/p>\n
After the initial betting is complete the dealer places three more cards on the table face-up that any player can use (these are called community cards). This is known as the flop.<\/p>\n
