During a game of poker, a group of people sit around an oval-shaped table, each with a hand of cards. Each person evaluates the other player’s cards to determine if they have the best hand. The highest ranking hand wins the pot.<\/p>\n
The game is played with a standard 52-card deck. The cards are shuffled by the dealer. The initial dealer is chosen by the player receiving the jack from the shuffled deck. The dealer then advances the steps of the game.<\/p>\n
A group of players then starts betting. Each player can either fold or raise. A player who raises is said to call. A player who raises is required to pay a minimum amount. If a player raises, he or she must call the bet of the player who raised before.<\/p>\n
If a player’s bet is called, they must match the amount. A player may also raise by bet more than the previous bettor.<\/p>\n
If there are multiple players tied for the highest card, a high card outside of four of a kind breaks the tie. When multiple people tie for the highest card, the high card breaks the tie and the person with the highest card wins.<\/p>\n
A straight flush begins with the highest value card. A straight flush is a straight hand that contains two pairs of cards plus the fifth card. The highest card in a high-card hand is called a kicker.
