The game of Poker, also known as a card game or a table game, is played between two or more players and involves betting. The objective of the game is to win a pot consisting of chips by having the best poker hand at the end of the round. Players may place bets on their own hands or on the hands of others. In the latter case, they are said to bluff. If no one calls their bet, they lose the hand and are said to have folded.<\/p>\n
Once each player has two cards, a round of betting begins. Each player must place at least the same amount of chips as the person who went before them in order to participate in the hand. The player who makes the first bet is called the “button” and the person to his or her left is said to be in position.<\/p>\n
After a round of betting, three additional community cards are dealt face up on the flop, which is called the flop. This is followed by another round of betting. Finally, a fifth community card is revealed on the river and there is a final round of betting.<\/p>\n
Ties in Poker are decided by the highest poker hand. A high pair beats any other poker hand, even a full house. The highest pair is made up of 2 cards of the same rank and 1 unmatched card.
